Satellite Data

A unified, up-to-date catalog of every object in orbit.

One record per object since Sputnik, with owner, orbit and status, the newest orbital elements for everything the US Space Force tracks, and a log of every launch. Ready for the new 6-digit catalog numbers.

What you get

  • Plain files over HTTPS

Tables as JSON or CSV, one file per partition, plus every dataset as one CSV or Parquet file. No key or signup.

  • Versions you can cite

Every update gets a version id, and a pinned URL always returns the same data. The first version of each month is kept for good, so results stay reproducible.

  • Checked before publishing

Each update is validated against its contract. If a check fails, the last good version stays live.

  • Licenses up front

Every dataset names its source, its license, the exact credit line and whether commercial use is allowed.

Datasets

All 3 datasets
  • Current orbital elements

The newest general perturbations (SGP4) element set for every object in Earth orbit that the US Space Force publishes, as CCSDS Orbit Mean-Elements Message fields, with period, semi-major axis, perigee and apogee derived from them. Catalog numbers are full integers, so objects numbered 100000 and up are included.

    Table Hourly

  • Launch log

Every launch in GCAT's launch list, one row per launch since 1942: orbital and deep-space launches with their international designation, plus missiles, sounding rockets and other suborbital flights. Each row has the date and time at the precision GCAT knows it, the vehicle, launch site, agency and outcome.

    Table Daily

  • Satellite catalog

Every artificial object GCAT catalogs, one record per object since Sputnik in 1957: payloads, rocket stages, components and debris, including those that reentered, left for deep space or failed to reach orbit. Each record has the GCAT id, the US catalog number (six digits and up since the 2026 rollover), the international designator, owner, state, launch and decay dates, mass, status and the latest orbit with its class.
